FINTI MARMI E LEGNI
Decoration means creating opportunities for renovation; renovation means change. Decorating an environment can modify its light, color and space. Since its first appearance, decorative painting has never ceased to evolve itself: from prehistoric rock art to the more developed interior decorations of the Classical age. Constantly challenging themselves, artists have over the centuries introduced different shapes, materials and techniques, moving from flat and light pieces of work into more complex ones where shapes and lights let perspectives emerge. This type of representations are known as Trompe L’oeil, an art technique that creates optical illusions, making the observer believe that a two-dimensional object exists in three dimensions. This art technique is used for the representation of windows, doors or halls, giving the optical illusion that a space is wider than in reality. Among the various painting works within the Trompe L’oeil, there are: faux marbles, faux woods, faux stones and so on and so forth.
