FINTI MARMI E LEGNI
Among the various painting expressions within the Trompe L’oeil technique, the two more prominent ones are the faux marble (or marbleizing) and faux wood. The aim of a decorator is not to create a false “faux marble” or a false “faux wood” but rather to perfectly imitate the noble and carefully chosen materials used and either insert these into a scenery made of landscapes, characters, ornaments and prospective or turn these into the main components within plinths, columns, wainscotings and more. Nature offers a wide variety of marbles: veined marbles, breccias, Broccatelli, Granites and others. The same can be said about wood: Walnut, Ash, Spruce, Burl, Mahogany and so on and so forth. The delicate use of colors and the alignment with the general principles (of marbles or woods) are essential factors to make the imitation of good quality. It is thus important to realize an harmonious piece of work, both in shape and color.
